Certified Revenue Cycle Representative Offered by HFMA

The Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) has added a new certification to its selection of education programs, the Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR).

CRCR certification helps set performance standards for individuals working in revenue cycle management and verifies that a specific level of knowledge and expertise has been reached. Individuals holding this certification are promised to be “better prepared to increase receivables, reduce denials, and work more efficiently — all while earning your organization high patient satisfaction scores.”

Designed for members of revenue cycle teams with one or more years of experience, the CRCR certification is an accredited  program offering up to 14 CPE Credits. Study materials and examination are $400 per individual candidate while discounts are offered to organizations having more than 10 CRCR candidates.

As the healthcare industry shifts to a more consumer-centric focus, revenue cycle staff are expected to have a comprehensive understanding of the existing revenue cycle and how it influences all interested parties, but especially healthcare patients.

The Certified Revenue Cycle Representative education program is an online self-study course that is available to HFMA members and non-members. Candidates garner certification after completing the program and passing the CRCR exam with a score of 70 percent or greater. They must recertify every two years by passing a recertification exam.
