Petaluma, California (July 10, 2018) — Employees from Optio Solutions and its parent company, CrossCheck, volunteered at the Redwood Empire Food Bank on June 28 to sort, weigh and package 7,000 pounds of apples for seniors in need.
The consolidated effort was organized by CrossCheck Senior Vice President Charles Dortch III to support the REFB’s weekday Warehouse Support program where “activities include gleaning and packaging fresh produce for individuals and families throughout our community, assembling grocery boxes for seniors in need, and sorting donated staple pantry items for distribution throughout Sonoma County.”
The Redwood Empire Food Bank (REFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization serving north coastal California from Sonoma County to the Oregon border. Since 1987, the REFB has provided food and nourishment to those facing hunger, currently serving 82,000 children, families and seniors in Sonoma County, while striving to end hunger in our community.

Evening Warehouse Support shifts are scheduled Monday through Thursday from 5 – 7 pm, but a variety of other volunteer opportunities are offered throughout the week (see the REFB Volunteer page for days and times.)
