Credit and Collection Professionals Celebrate 100th Year

The California Association of Collectors — the largest state-level organization of credit and collection professionals in the nation — will hold the 100th installment of its Annual Conference and Expo October 9 – 10, 2017. The event features a legislative update, distinguished speakers, a tradeshow with collection tools and services, educational seminars and ACA training. There will also be an installation and awards reception and opportunities for networking and fundraising. Conference registration and room reservations at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa in Rancho Mirage, California are still open.

About the California Association of Collectors, Inc.

Founded in 1917, the California Association of Collectors (CAC) is the first organized association of collection professionals in the country and the founding unit of ACA International, the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals.

CAC provides a platform for its members to unite and improve the collection industry in the state. CAC members include third-party collection agencies, creditors, asset buyers, attorneys and vendor associates. CAC addresses issues that are specifically related to third-party collectors in the state of California, and is strongly committed to legislative advocacy, leadership development, education, public relations and legal support as well as maintaining open dialogue on current trends and hot topics.

Education for Credit and Collection Professionals

credit and collection professionalsACA Training on Advanced FDCPA Issues is scheduled for Monday morning before the official start of the conference. This session requires a separate registration and fee.

The workshop reviews relevant court decisions about the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), guidance about working with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), regulatory enforcement actions impacting compliance, and identifying potential liability and defenses under the FDCPA.

The class is just one of the many needed by Credit and Collection Compliance Officers (CCCO). Other advanced coursework for the CCCO designation covers compliance, data security standards, collection ethics, and writing effective policies and procedures. Credit and collection professionals having the CCCO designation must pass an exam with a grade of 85% or higher and renew their certification annually.
